2011 trips cancelled

CV International had made plans for a fourth trip to the Philippines in June 2011, and we were looking forward to the possibility of a first trip to Thailand in July. Unfortunately, we had a number of people who had committed to our teams withdraw at the application deadline, and this means we have no one to take those places and keep our teams together. Therefore, we have made the heartbreaking decision to call off all plans for mission trips in 2011.

However, we are still looking forward to 2012 and focusing efforts on promotion and recruiting for future trips. Pray with us for wisdom and blessing from the Lord as we seek to further His kingdom by sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ through creative tools like drama.

Since we started sending teams overseas in 2008, CV International has been to Poland once and the Philippines three times. That's about 25 people who have stepped up to be a laborer for Christ in the harvest fields of the world. Now we are looking forward to making a return trip to the Philippines, where the Lord has put us together in a great partnership with Greg Lyons and Global Surge in metro Manila, one of the largest metropolitan areas in the world. Drama is an amazing tool for the gospel in this culture, and you can join us next summer! We are praying for open doors in other world locations as well, so if you have June open and sense the call, apply today by clicking on "I want to go"! Send a message if you have any questions. God bless!

Philippines team final report

Hello CVI friends and supporters,

It was only 11 days ago (June 19, 2010) that we returned from a wonderful and blessed two-week journey in the Philippines, exhausted and jetlagged yet full of joy over all the Lord did in and through us. I thank the Lord for each of you for your love and concern for our ministry. CVI's third trip to the Philippines was a very special one, and it was my privilege to travel with our team this year. I was told by our host missionary that in terms of attitude, flexibility, willingness, spiritual fitness, and quality, he believes this year's team is the strongest we have sent so far. What a compliment, and praise the Lord!

We have been given some final numbers by our host missionary that I would like to share with you. By my count, we ministered at 15 different locations (church services, evangelistic events, school assemblies, etc.) in two weeks. Our total audience at all the places we did drama was at least 2000 people. A total of 191 professions of faith were recorded at the locations where we ministered through drama! Of course, there are other things about which we can praise the Lord: the many friendships formed and strengthened; the beauty of the things we saw on a two-day snorkeling trip in the South China Sea; the lessons learned as the Lord worked in our hearts; the wisdom gained from godly men and women who invested in us; the Lord's protection and favor over our travel; and the list goes on.

On a personal note, it is very gratifying to me that each of our team members has said they would go back if they could, and some of them are actually working and praying about such a commitment. I praise the Lord for how He is molding our hearts and minds so that we are more like the Great Commission Christians we are commanded to be. So where do we go from here? Well, we need to remember that in a sense, the mission trip has not ended but has only begun. We find ourselves scattered and in our own personal mission fields in America right now. All of us need to see that the harvest is plentiful, and as we work, pray for more laborers (Matthew 9:37-38).

Let me also say something about CV's ministry in particular. We have now sponsored drama-based mission trips for three years. If I may say so, please talk to your pastors, folks at your churches, friends at school, family members, and anyone else with whom you have influence 1) to support and/or participate in missions and 2) to remember CV as an outlet for missions support and involvement. Our desire is to see every believer find his or her place in the work of fulfilling the Great Commission, and so we pray that growing numbers of people will go through us as well. Right now, we have missionary friends in at least six locations worldwide who would love to host a future CV International team. This can only happen as the Lord brings the individuals, the youth/college groups, and other relationships our way. Maybe the Lord is calling you to join us in the future. Maybe you can help get us connected with someone who needs to join up with us.

I look forward to our paths crossing, perhaps even in a future CVI trip. In the meantime, may He bless each of you richly. "To God be the glory, great things He has done...."

Serving Him with gladness,

Michael Summers
Director of CV International

Well, here we are! After a very long flight, our 2010 CVI team arrived in Manila late on Saturday, June 5. We are once again partnering with Greg Lyons and Megacity Ministries. We have been in three churches so far and have thoroughly enjoyed meeting people and sowing the seeds for what we pray will be a successful two weeks of ministry here. Please pray for us, and I will post updates here as I can. Thanks, and "purihin ang Diyos!" (Praise the Lord!)

Philippines, here we come!

Well, here it is! After many months of praying, planning, organizing, shifting, and anticipating, it is now time for our Philippines mission team to meet this week for training and then head to the Philippines on Friday, June 4! We are so excited to make our third trip to the Philippines, and we ask you to join us in praying that the Lord will do great things while we are there.

--Our team of Michael Summers, Sally Gunter, Chad Grittman, Ashley Miller, and Shaun Belcher will meet in Springfield, MO for training and preparation from Monday, May 31 to Thursday, June 3. Pray for us by name. Pray that we will be united together in our hearts and made ready for this task. Pray for a smooth and fruitful training week as we learn drama material and prepare for all that we will do in Metro Manila.

--We will be leaving Springfield on Friday, June 4 and arriving in Manila late on Saturday, June 5. Pray for divine protection and favor as we travel. Pray for smooth transitions in the airports and for our luggage and ministry supplies to arrive with us.

--We will work alongside missionary Greg Lyons w/ Megacity Ministries in Metro Manila from Sunday, June 6 to Friday, June 18. Pray for Greg's ministry team as they prepare for the next few weeks of ministry. Pray for us to be ready and willing witnesses for Jesus Christ. Pray for the strengthening of churches, the establishment of new ones, the salvation of many, and the glory of the Lord to be known across the city. Pray for us to be safe and have wisdom in all our conduct and conversations.

--We will leave Manila on Friday, June 18 and return to Springfield on Saturday, June 19. Pray once again for divine protection and favor as we travel, for smooth transitions in the airports, and for our luggage and ministry supplies to arrive with us. Pray also for us on the 19th as we spend the day resting and then sharing a final team meeting for testimonies and missions debriefing before scattering to return home. We will also record testimonies on video and begin the processing of compiling trip footage and our testimonies for future promotional use. Pray that we will finish strong and be forever changed by what the Lord has done.

--Thank you for praying. Please remember us in prayer every day from May 31 to June 19. Stay tuned for regular updates during the course of the trip. The Lord bless you!

We are a "go" for the Philippines!

Well, things have not gone exactly according to plan, but we know that the Lord is in control of all things. We had to make a couple of changes regarding our Philippines trip. First of all, one person had to drop out, which means we will be sending five people instead of the planned six. Second, we had to shorten the trip by one week due to unforeseen circumstances. We will train in Springfield, MO during the week of May 31-June 3, and we will be in Manila June 4-18. We will return to Springfield on the 19th.

Pray for our team, our finances, and our preparations: Michael Summers, Sally Gunter, Chad Grittman, Ashley Miller, and Shaun Belcher.

Pray for our 2010 Philippines team!

Our 2010 Philippines team has been set, and we are extremely excited about going to metro Manila for the third time! Manila is one of the largest cities in the world, and we will be in a place where the harvest truly is plentiful. We have seen the Lord do amazing things as we have joined in the work of getting the gospel out to this city through the creative tools of drama, and we are praying for Him to move in power once again!

Pray for us as we prepare logistically, administratively, and spiritually. Pray for our team to be "encouraged in heart and united in love" (Colossians 2:2), beginning now and all the way through the time of the trip itself. Pray that the Lord will provide abundantly for the financial needs of each team member, as they must raise 100% of the expenses for their travel and time in the Philippines. Pray for the seed of the Word as it is sown, and pray for the soil of the hearts of the people of Manila. May we see a mighty work of the Lord as souls are saved, lives are changed, churches are planted and strengthened, and the boundaries of darkness are pushed further and further back. Pray for us by name. Thank you, and may the Lord bless you.

2010 missions schedule change

CV International has received a sufficient number of applications to send out one team again in 2010, and we believe that the Lord is leading us to return to the Philippines. This will be our third trip to metro Manila, and we are very excited about what the Lord has in store! Unfortunately, this means that all other scheduled 2010 trips have been cancelled. If you are a youth or college leader or a student who wants to partner with a dynamic missions ministry, then prayerfully consider CVI in 2011. In the meantime, please be praying for the Philippines team as the process of putting it together is finalized this month. God bless!
